Our Story

India’s First Palliative Hospital Shanthibhavan Palliative Hospital began with a simple, radical idea, that every human being deserves professional medical care and comfort at the end of life, regardless of their ability to pay. Care Without a Counter Located at Shanthibhavan Palliative Hospital, Mountain of Mercy, Pallissery, Arattupuzha.P.O, Thrissur. we operate as a unique "No-Bill" hospital. Whether it is a bed in our 99 bed facility, a session in our solar powered dialysis unit, or a meal for a patient, it is always free. We have removed the cash counters so that families can focus on what matters most, love and dignity. Reaching Every Home Beyond our hospital walls, our fleet of 15 home care vehicles provides a lifeline to the Thiruvananthapuram district. With 24/7 emergency services and free ambulances, we bring the hospital’s heart directly to the bedside of the suffering. A mission of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Clare, co founded by Rev. Fr. Joy Koothur, Sr. Beatrice Scalinci, and Sr. Maria Chiara. The hospital is a beacon of hope for the vulnerable, equipped with 49 beds, centralized oxygen systems, ICU with ventilator facilities, and a solar-powered dialysis unit. It operates as a "No-Bill" hospital—meaning there are no bills and no cash counters. Every service, from medical care to food and accommodation, is provided completely free of charge to registered patients. Our mission extends beyond hospital walls with 15 home care vehicles serving Thiruvananthapuram District, providing 24/7 emergency home care, free ambulance services, and comprehensive palliative support to those who need it most.
